Plans to Prosper You: A Tuesday Reminder That Your Kitchen Is Part of Something Bigger

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11

Tuesday morning. The coffee is brewing, the kids are eating cereal with their eyes barely open, and you are already thinking about what is for dinner tonight.

Again.

It is easy to feel like your days are just cycles. Wake up. Feed people. Clean up. Repeat. Like you are on a treadmill that never stops, running hard but not going anywhere in particular.

But Jeremiah 29:11 tells us something different. God does not just see you spinning. He sees you building.

When the Ordinary Feels Too Small

This verse was written to people who were in exile. Displaced, uncertain, wondering if the life they had known was gone forever. And into that place of “what now?” God spoke: I have plans for you. Good ones. Plans that include hope and a future.

Not “plans to survive.” Not “plans to get through Tuesday.” Plans to prosper you.

Here is what I keep coming back to: God’s plans for you are not separate from the dailyness of your life. They are woven into it. The dinner you cook tonight is not just a meal. It is a moment where you are providing, nourishing, showing up, and God sees every single one of those moments. He is not waiting for you to do something bigger or more spiritual. He is in the kitchen with you.

When you feel like your days are too ordinary to matter, remember: the God who spoke plans and hope and a future over His people is the same God who designed your family’s table. Your kitchen is part of the story.

What This Looks Like in Your Kitchen This Week

1. Cook With Intention, Not Just Obligation

Next time you are standing at the stove, take a breath before you start. Remind yourself: this meal is part of God’s provision for your family. You are not just filling plates. You are loving people the way He called you to. That shift changes everything. The same chopped onions and simmering pot become an act of faith instead of another item on the to-do list.

2. Let Go of the “Perfect Plan” Anxiety

We moms love a plan. Meal plans, activity schedules, family calendars color-coded to within an inch of their lives. But Jeremiah 29:11 is not a verse about your planning. It is about His. When the dinner burns or the schedule falls apart or the grocery run becomes a meltdown, you can rest knowing that His plans for your family are not derailed by a Tuesday that did not go your way. He is still working. He always has been.

3. Speak Hope Over Your Table

While you are cooking, pray over the people who will sit at your table. Thank God for His plans for them. Ask Him to bless the meal, the conversation, the laughter and the tears that happen around that table. It takes thirty seconds and it transforms how you see that space. Your kitchen is not just where food happens. It is where faith gets spoken over your family, one meal at a time.

A Short Prayer

Lord, thank You that You see more in my ordinary days than I do. When I feel like I am just going through the motions, remind me that Your plans for me include hope and a future, and that those plans are alive in my kitchen, my table, and my home. Help me cook with purpose today. Amen.

Why I Built Petal Kitchen

I built Petal Kitchen because I believe the everyday work of feeding your family matters more than we give it credit for.
